A missed opportunity for comfort

the comfort of hydronic heat. We were at a dinner party last night at the home of a co-worker of my wife. Nice house, large, fairly new construction. But, the hardwood floors were cold, and every now and then, while sitting at the table, I'd feel this cold draft. Took me a while to figure it out. The heat register on the floor. It's been some time since I've been treated to the "qualities" of forced air heat. This house was in the high rent district, if you know what I mean. Talk about a missed opportuinity. Could of had warm floors, no drafts, etc... My own home, even though it has baseboards and not in-floor, is MUCH more comfortable than that one was. Makes me wonder how hot air ever became such a popular way to heat homes.
Sorry, no real questions to ask, no problems to solve, just a few random observations from someone who grew up in a house with radiators.

Larry, real simple!
Price & a/c..... I find in my service area(south of Boston) that allot of the "high end" homes will design the Heating system around central a/c! Makes no sense to me to design a system for heat like this but they do. I replaced a heat pump system in a million dollar home a couple of years ago because they could not get the house above 63degrees on cold days, but for the 12 weeks ayear they needed a/c it worked great. Best at neither
I've yet to see a forced-air distribution system that can function equally well doing both heating and cooling.
Our first house had forced air heat and central A/C - two separate, independent systems.
Current house is lovely cast-iron rads and high-V A/C.
I obviously prefer the current systems, but the first house worked pretty well - although I can't imagine if I'd tried to do A/C thru the heating distribution system there.
