The owners of this building has had some really bad luck with Wiel the last 4 or 5 years. They had to keep replaceing leaking sections on this boiler that kept showing up on the little knobs on the sides of the sections. (we have actually ran into this problem alot) They finally got so sick of it that we replaced the whole thing.

nice install !
Great craftsmanship Jamie, you and your dad rock!!!0 -
lookin good
but what was taking the Weil's out? did you find any clues during the demo?0 -
No, We put a meter on the water supply to see if there was a leak & maybe to much fresh water was in the system. Not the case though. We have had this problem with alot of Wiels. All in the same place. Might be a design flaw?

I called the Pompetti's to do a small job on my steam stystem and I can see why they told me they were swamped. This looks likes a huge job. Seeing these pictures makes me feel confident that I made the right choice in waiting until they are available and not calling anyone else.

Beautiful work Jamie
Each and every pipe straight and level , every solder joint clean ( what is your trick ? ) , and even a union after every relief valve to change it quick . Great job .0 -
Seems odd to me as the rep for wiel in my area that the sections keep leaking. A boiler that size with a GP burner wasn't pre-packaged. Someone put the boiler together wrong.0 -
Leaks
That's usually the case. If the factory doesn't put it together, all bets are off. Weil-McLain does a good job on the manufacturing end of things, I think the original installer messed up just a little.0 -
Josh,
I am not trying to knock Wiel by any means! I have not installed any of the previous boilers, I have just been called to fix them. On all the jobs we have found that the boilers where not protected from Thermal Shock and this could be the reason for the failures.
