cleaning of hot water boiler

Simple Green and a rag work wonders on the case, I've heard of homeowners getting copper polish and cleaning all the pipes, but that is excessive to me! No, just flush the system with hot water. I usually charge the boiler only, fire it, and as it is coming up to temp, then let the hot water start running through the pipes, it cleans the flux out better. There are additives you can get that will scour the pipes, but usually it is not necessary.
