Clogged Radiator Woes

Hi all, had my boiler replaced recently. Since then, no heat in the farthest radiator in the system. Contractor said it was sludge that clogged the rad when the system was drained. I was skeptical because of the location.

Turns out I think I just proved him right. Bled about 20 gallons from the bleeder and the rad finally got warm. However, return pipe (single pipe system) was still ice cold.

So now, I'm fairly certain the only way to remedy this is to drain the system down, and start roto-rooting in the rad & return (no, I won't try this myself; I'll make a call monday morning). That is, unless anyone has any other ideas.....thanks!

All you proved is that when you open the bleeder hot water from the boiler made the rad hot.
close some rad valves on other rads see what happens
