we use close nipples
or the next size up...but we also use 4'' fittings..0 -
Why
go up to 4" fittings?? You find it works better???
Thanks for your reply..Richard0 -
we try to slow
the velocity of the exiting steam and the biggest we can thread is 4''...weve been using 4'' discharge dunkirks just for this reason..i'll try to attach a picture of one..opps, that boiler was the last boiler we used a 3'' header..after that job we started using 4'' for not just the risers but also the header..i'll have to rumage for a picture.0 -
Thanks
for your time.I'll being that drop header job ina week or so.. Richard0 -
I just use
4 street ells - just enough to drop the 2 boiler headers and make the swing for easy connection .0 -

What purpose????
Does a drop header serve? And when shouild it be used?
Excuse my ignorance. Thanks, Frank0 -
Hey Frank
no problem here,,I am learning too..Been in the trade 25 + years..Never did a drop header before here..Doing one soon..These guys are great and will go out of their way to help!!They even draw pics for you and send photos of their jobs..I m toldthe a drop header slows the flow of steam leaving dry steam..Also great when you can not get the rise you need. They look good to.. :)The wallies willteel it all..Good luck and happy holidays Richard0 -
it dries the steam out
better than a flat header..but it has a couple of side benifits, it makes it a non-issue of ceiling height,,and its actually easier to install the header because of the swing joints at the top...win-win situation.0 -
found my 4'' picture
these things get lost in the computer..0 -
Hey Gerry
That is a killer header..You must have some big guys to turn those wrenches lol...Thanks Richard0
