What size radiator ( in BTU's) is the best for my room size

I am installing several old cast iron hot water radiators in my home. Some are rather large. How do I calculate what BTU's are required to best heat that room?

    donig a heat loss calculation

    Debbie,

The only way you know is to get all the information about the room into a program that can compute the amount of heat needed. It's definitely doable, but it will take you a bit of time to get the answers. There is link on the pipe on the left to get free heat loss software from slant fin.

Once you have that, then it's a matter of how much radiator at what temperature is needed to provide the needed heat. Unless you're planning to do the work yourself, it's probably better to work with someone who will do the install for this part. Make sure the person you hire has a real clue about doing this work. You can look at the work in some of the other threads to see how good it gets.

    good luck,
