    Zone valves???

Awesome looking install!!!!!In general, why would a zone valve be put on the return instead of the supply?? Or is it just a preference?? Thanks!

Had some problems long ago with larger pumps forcing flow through closed valves (most close against the flow)when on the supply. Have had no problems since - gun shy I guess.

i put zone valves on the supply

so that the heat from open supply lines doesnt migrate up into un-called for zones, but then you need a diferential pressure bypass to take up the exces head pressure from the pump when most of the zones are closed - look at the right side of manifold (3 layers deep because of wall space limitations)

if you put the zone valves on the return, then you need to use spring check valves on the supply lines to stop heat migration

Just curious: Shouldn't the full pressure feed to the boiler come between the backflow preventer and the PRV, and not before the backflow preventer? What is the fitting in the vent port of the backflow?

it came assembled that way from watts

the backflow preventer first and then the PRV inline

    are you using

an electric soldering system on those joints - cause they are simply amazing - only 1 in 5 of mine come out that way - or do you simply sand all the solder off later?

    backflow

What is the fitting in the backflow vent? The reason I asked about the feed line is inspector had me add a tee and nipple between the backflow and the prv for a pressure tap. Said the feed before the backflow is a cross connection. Since I started doing that on all the jobs that I use a bypass he just smiles as he signs off on the job.

    you caught me in progress...

it's a vacum breaker - all the purge ports in the system are teed together into clear plastic hose and then to an open drain tube with trap on bottom like an open washing machine drain setup

the backflow and relief vents get their own hose to said open drain, and i have a vacum breaker on that, so as not to have any hold back in the vent line that might affect the BCKFL valve

aint it nice to have all that wall space

so you didnt have to do the "im under over and over is under dunn..." from "airplane 1" dance

    I gotta get some pics....

of the next install, that my son is working on right now.
The piping is almost done. He's starting on the electrical in the morning.
Another double 155 deal... the trick to this one is that it is for a cafeteria/kitchen for a school for deliquent children.
The kitchen will be using hot water for extended periods and one office will have a small Myson wall fan convector, so I am installing a buffer tank.
Funny thing... the buffer tank was really hard to come by, seems that there is a big demand for them right now, had to take a 120 gal....could not get the 80 I wanted.

Full modulation from 30 to 300K BTU's with the help of the Tekmar 265.... WOW!!!!!!

Next project......2 - 230's to hookup to an existing chilled water A/C system. YEEEEEEEEEEEE HHHHAAAAHHHH!!!!!!
