Primary/Secondary Questions

If I have a primary and secondary loop design on my boiler with an Amtrol hot water tank for my domestic hot water here are some questions I need addressed.

1. Can/Should the Boiler run when the aqua stat calls for hot water and:
a) no zone is calling for heat
b) the boiler mate, is not calling for heat?
c) the primary pump is not running

2. Will the primary loop water “set temperature” from the aqua stat cause the boiler to recycle often and for short duration during periods of warm weather or low water usage?

3. How long (approx. range of time) will the boiler run to keep the temperature in the primary loop satisfied during heating and non-heating periods? My thinking is,
since the primary loop is so short(10 to 20 feet), and these new Boilers are so much more efficent it wouldn't be
very long.(On and Off)

4. What settings are suggested for the aqua stat on my application for winter and summer usage. (0 - 70 figured in North East)?

5. Does the primary circulator run only when a secondary circulator runs?

    Maintaining Boiler?

It sounds like you're heading to a maintianing boiler. Why would you want to do that? Fire the boiler when there's a call for heat from either the indirect or space heating. I'm assuming you're talking about a domestic system and there are no critical uses.

BTW, the anwer to your first question is no.
