condensate drain hoses

here is a fwa furnace question! has anyone come across problems with the condensate hoses coming from the inducer and collector box getting dry rot and leaking ? these are weatherking units about 7 or 8 years old. thanks keith

    I've seen this on Bryant condensing furnaces too. We just replace the hoses. Its part of maintenance to check condensates hoses anyway.

    Yes we are begining to see this. Rheem seems to be the worst. But we have seen it on almost all brands. I guess they don't have the right formula for making hose down yet

    The early version of the hose used in the Rheem, Weather King and Ruud furnaces will definately fail. Actually it is quite supprising to find how bad the dry rot is and yet the hoses are not leaking.

    The replacement hose is constructed of a different material that is standing up quite well.

    Universal Part number 79-25353-82 Comes with new clamps.

    Pick them up at the supply house and have them in the truck. I would not recommend using any other type of hose.

    All furnaces with the condensate drain on the right side will require 2 hoses. Those with the drain on the left side can get by on 1 hose, if you are careful when cutting the tube to length.

    thanks for all the information. noland co. was able to get a roll of replacement hose. this is something to keep and eye on in these 92+ units.
