  • Robert, I do not believe

they do. I have some scattered info that I have compiled over the years that may relate to your question. Just what are you looking for?

    Thanks Tim

Looking for info on oil chimney liner sizing. I wish it was spelled out for oil as it is gas in 54.

    Regards,

    Thanks George

I guess I'm gonna have to buy a copy. I am trying to get my brain around liner sizing and the codes. I got an Inspector telling me that I need to have the same area as the flue colllar all the way to the roof.

Z Flex and others offer some but not alot of information on size and height oil specific. NFPA has some info in their appendix but only up to 6" and 2.25 gallons.

Manufacturers in their tables don't list corrugated liners. I am aware in gas you reduce by 20% for corrugated liners but where is this written for oil?

    Thanks for any insight,

    Robert

I think you need to reference NFPA211 and forget about

ASHRAE, although I'm a member a lot of their stuff is over my head and I'm quite sure the inspectors too! Ask him to cite the 'rule', quid pro quo, FACT!

211 7.1.11.1 says chimneys shall be sized by manufacturers instructions,12.4.4(solid fuel) or approved method. Prblem I'm having is sizing with these flex liners. Obviously if you have a 50 ft chimney you can get a way with a bit smaller liner but what publications support that?

I am hoping ASHRAE tables are "approved method" for oil as they are fireplaces.

Anyhow I'll tell you that the first manufacturer of flexible chimney liners for oil that comes out with real guidelines for all sizes will get my vote. Most of the stuff they publish is pretty thin

    You can get help from...

Your preferred brand of factory built chimney or call Z-Flex. Info you will nedd is firing rate, length/dia/configuration of vent connector, preferred draft, CO2, chimney height, internal dimensions. Selkirk engineering used to do them for me all the time. 800 848-2149 x engineering. that # is at least 4 yrs old but is probably still good.

    Yeah you would

    think so,

But Z Flex doesn't publish their sizing for larger oil applications. Talking to them will be no good if I need something to show the inspector.

Thanks for the Selkirk number . I'll see what they have for liners
