Went to Cable (OMG)

I am not by any means a computer whiz. I decided to scrap the phone line & go to cable, (only fast computer available in my neighborhood). I feel like I just got out of a Model T and jumped into an F16 at full afterburner. Really not much more money too. Next time I want to download pdf files from the MFG for boiler & furnace specs, I won't have to order wings & pizza, to have something to do while I wait. JMHO

I know how you feel
I can't get cable at my office but changed over to a DSL line. Now I surf the net instead of waiting for the tide to come in .

I got a cable modem awhile back and I can sure appreciate what you are saying. However mine costs 2.5x what dial up did . Glad you were a ble to get a good rate!
I do feel it is worth every penny though!!

I have had cable
for many years and when I use a phone hook up now, I feel like I am swimming in molasses. It is amazing how fast we become use to the advances in hi-tech.0 -
Internet
I just got the DirectWay satellite internet installed.
I have no telephone landlines or cable where I live. Works great, not quite as fast as DSL.
Also got an internet phone, not so happy with the service through Iconnecthere.com, clips & breaks up words, so it's a pain to use! I can receive calls on it, but I had to select an area code from 1,000 miles away, it also won't let me call 1-800-xxx-xxxx numbers, so far & Iconnecthere don't respond!0
