Vaporstat model

Im convinced. Want to put vaporstat on my single pipe steam, 135,000BTU gas fired boiler. Currently using old PA404A.
Any recommendations on the specific vaporstat make/model number to consider--there seem to be numerous choices--many of which seem to only have subtle (but meaningful?!)differences.

Thanks.

How well vented is your system?

If it is average, I'd opt for the Honeywell vaporstat that has a range up to 4 psi. If you can , though vemt with Gorton #2s and go for the Honeywell Vaporstat that goes up to only 16 ounces (L408A). Mad Dog

Thanks for the response. I have Gorton #1's at the end of each main (20 ft each way with 2" mains). Have been considering Gorton #2's. Is there any problem increasing the venting rate--is there such a thing as too much venting at mains?
    Thanks. Brian

mad dog has a rack of gorton 2's on his..you can see it at hvactv..really sweet

no, you can not vent too much

sometimes radiators venting rate needs to be slowed down, but the mains.....let 'er rip. I might add more too , Gerry! Mad Dog

    L408A Vaporstat

is available as 0-16 oz./sq. in. w/ 2-16 oz./sq. in. subtractive differential and as 0-4 lb./sq. in. w/ 4-16 oz./sq. in. subtractive differential, SPST Break on pressure rise. The 0-4 psi unit would let you go to 1.25 or even 1.5 psi cutout w/ a 1 psi differential, which might be handy if your main vents are small, but the 0-1 psi (0-16 oz) unit would prevent setting the pressure too high. Either should be much easier to set than a PA404A at low pressures. You could keep the PA404A, put it on a seperate pigtail and set it to ~3 psi cutout as a safety limit should the vaporstat fail closed.
