Do Spirovents need to be cleaned?

I have a bit of air still circulating around that I thought would be collected by the Spirovent. Do these things need to be cleaned once a system is put into service? It is plumbed as per the Wall and hissed when first filled and when the next zone was added so it was working.

Thank-you.

    Shut off the water.....

Shut the domestic off and monitor the gauge. Is the pressure droping?? Those vents remove air very well. If it continues, look for your leak... BOC

    sometimes

the little vent hole will become plugged and not allow the air to vent. A paper clip generally will dislodge the bugger :)

Watch your system pressure, if it drops to zero you may have a leak causing the noise you hear.

    i think they do,

i always put a drain valve at the end of a straight tube underneath it, that the exp tank and feed - tee into - so that i can flush it down
    - the same bail of screens that make the air pop out of the mix, will make dirt drop out too
but don’t expect to get too much dirt out of a reg spirovent - cause - there just isn’t enough space at the bottom of it to hold a lot - that's why they make a special units,
called spirotrap and a combo unit, - these are a must for a gravity conversion job that generates a lot of dirt due to the cast iron
