Need a short-tubed gas power burner

And found none made a compact (enough for this app.) conversion burner for a W/M 368. Customer's 550-gallon UST is toast.
It's a Levittown kitchen job, that now has a Beckett AF with short blast tube - surrounded by louvered doors. The Beckett blast tube and chassis combined (from the mounting plate to the louvered door) measures only 8 inches.
We checked a few makers we use and none even came close to being that compact/short. Assuming about a 1" insertion into the mounting casting with 1" of pre-formed ceramic insulation, the total length of a ~120MBTU gas power burner can't exceed 10" total.
Any suggestions on a brand or model?

Ken have you tried
Carlin G3B or G3A.
The G3B can fire at 120,000 into a 9 x 9 x 9 square chamber or a 10 x 9 vertical cyclinder.
I have fired a Carlin at 120,000 into an 8 x 8 x 8 with a 2300 degree refractory and had a flue gas analysis of 9.5% CO2 4.8% O2 with a flue gas net stack of 400 degrees which gave a 80% efficiency. The CO was 40 PPM with a -.02 draft. This gives about 25% excess air. That was by the way with a barometric.0 -
Ken,
Have you checked out the offerings from Wayne ? I worked on a system this week that had one, and I'm pretty sure it had a little bit shorter tube than the Carlins I've seen.
Sorry, I was working on a hot water problem and didn't have to note the numbers on the burner. If you have any questions, you can try emailing Alan at Oil Tech Talk. He used to work for them and could steer you in the right direction as to their product line. Good luck. Chris0 -
Ken if you want info on Wayne
I can also give you info on gas burners from Wayne. My experience with them however is that they do not always fit all applications.0 -
Thanks Tim
I thought it was a bit shorter than the 10" Ken was asking for, but I didn't measure it .
The unit I worked on was a 68 series, but it looked to take up a bit less space than the original oil burner would have taken up.(usually a Beckett AF or a Carlin 99/100CRD with a 6" insertion tube.) Some had the Carlin "A" head(kind of a flared look to it,that ran with a wider nozzle pattern, but they were few and far between).
I thought the Wayne burner I saw was just a bit shorter from the mount , to the back of it, but I could be mistaken on that. I will say it was quiet! I was torn if maybe I should "clock it" to see if it was putting enough heat to the appliance, until I found a faulty check valve in the path of a booster tank. Maybe I should listen more and talk less? Chris0 -
heat wise has ....
a few models of gas conversion burners that are short..5.5"

were all the Levittowns UST's?
and if so what do people usually use for replacements? How many have NG available to plumbed into them?
I see a lot of pictures of new oil boilers being installed in Levittowns, so some people must be replacing tanks too I assume. Are the PA Levittown homes essentially the same as the NY ones?0 -
I live in a Levittown
home in NJ and to the best of my knowledge - were ALL oil. The down fired G.E. LAL25G being the one I built my business upon. Gas is now plentiful in all the areas that had Levittown homes. The rationale being that this sort of home is closely grouped, large numbers in neghnerhoods and very profitable for gas utlities to snag. Most had gas stoves and oil boilers from the get-go. True.
I've heard of Levittown homes in PA (penn Square Village), NJ and of course Lawn Guy Land. Almost all I have seen were 20+ home "develeopments."
I think Dan still lives in one?

W-M says no
I asked them once about coverting a 368 and they said don't do it. Maybe they all say it...0 -
Aero made,
& may still make a model PGB-220 (65 - 220 mbh) conversion burner. They claim it is flame retention & works well in short chambers. The distance from the flange face to the end of the chassis is 8 1/4".

were they all...
...underground tanks, and if so what do people replace the tank with, an outside tank in a shed against the house? The Levvett's are on a slab (no crawl, no cellar) right?0
