Air Vents

I received your books on steam heating, I live in a NY Brownstone 5 stories including cellar (building approx. 60 ft high. I noticed in reading your book on vents it did not give size vents or the opening of the holes. I am under the impression that the vents farthest away from boiler should be largest opening on vent. Is this true? Also if not what size air vents holes should I use on each floor?
My specs. are as follows: cellar floor there are 3 main vents, basement level 3 radiator vents, 1st floor 5 radiator vents, 2nd floor 6 radiator vents of those 6 radiator vents 1 radiator valve is completely shut off since room is being used as storage room, 2 other radiator valves are shut off since too much heat the two rooms are adjoining and there are a total of 4 radiators. 3rd floor there are 4 radiator vents of those 4 one radiator valve is completely shut off since room is being used for storage. I just wanted to get some input on openings of air holes on vent. My pressuretrol is set at .05 and diff of 1.

Also, you mentioned in your book about using vinegar for the water. How much should be used and where do I add this into boiler? Is there any other solution can be used if the vingar smell is a problem.
