interesting set-up, but not approved in my area, as our code states that in-joist tubing max spacing is 8". but the salesman is going to try to change the inspectors minds! (was that an oxy-moron? just kidding!)

is a terrible thing to have:-)
I've tested the Ultra-Fin in in wall radiant applications, and it does kick out some btu's. Radiantly.
As for convection, there has to be a difference in order to make a difference, and air is a relative poor transporter of btus, especially in natural closed space convection systems.
But it does work to some degree. Just requires water a LOT hotter (180) than I'd consider efficient.
