Heres one we just fired up. It started out as a evacuated tube solar system, until we explained to the HO that Evacuated tube collectors don't like hail, to which he replied "They probably don't like golf balls much either eh.." His house backs up to a future golf course:-)
We talked him out of solar, and into latent solar. Ground source heat pump backed up by 3 high efficiency Munchkin condensing boilers.
The system is doing the RFH in his 2,000 square foot "Fun House", DHW pre heat, swimming pool maintenance heat and hot tub maintenance heat. There is a 3,500 square foot court yard that is snowmelted. The Munchers will only kick in when there's a call for back up DHW, snowmelt, or second stage call from either the pool or the spa.
While we were there, he mentioned that his 10,000 square foot existing home was extremely uncomfortable. It was high efficiency scorched error. Half his house faces south east, and the other half faces south west, both at a 45 degree angle to true south. His old AC system locked out anytime the OSA was below 45 degrees F. It was MOST uncomfortable for the weeks surrounding winter solstice.
So, we installed 10 tons worth of GSHP for his home while we were at it:-) Now he gets AC anytime he wants it!
Did you want fries with that burger? How'sabout a Coke while we're at it!
In the tradition of giving credit where credit is due, one of the best hydronic young pipe fitters I've ever met did this system for us. His name is Matt Rossi. His able bodied assistant was Brian Cordova. Unfortunatley, Matt is headed for other pastures. His assistant is stepping up to become the crew leader for the number 1 "A Team" truck. Good luck Matt! You will be dearly missed!
Brian, I look forward to working with you:-)
Enjoy!
BTW, the ugly piping is not ours, but unfortunately it resides in the same room. The HO said he's considering building a wall to seperate the two so their system doesn't emberass ours...

PS. I smallered (NEW WORD) all them wall to wall pictures except for the wall of shame. SOrry for the supersize:-) ME

Neutralizer
Mark,
What do you use in the neutralizer and how often does it have to be changed. Also, what it is piped into. Great looking job. Did the contract include use of the poolhouse?

Crushed marble
landscaping style. The whole rig costs less than $10.00 and its life expectancy is unknown. Recharges cost $5.00 ...
