We have a customer who has a commercial bldg, with a 2 pipe steasystem. At the doorways throughout the bldg, they will have piping that runs approxmatlly around 2" size. At each doorway the 2" piping will tee and the 2" goes down while a 3/4" pipe will go up over the door way. They will then intersect again on the other side of the doorway with a tee. The 2" piping dose create a natural trap as it goes UNDER the doorway and comes back up on the other side. We do not have a problem with this but we are wondering the reason this was done.

    That's How...

    ...to get horizontal condensate lines past obstructions like doorways, beams, etc. It doesn't leave a pipe running across the doorway opening. The smaller line up & over allows air to get out. Check the elevation of the tees on each side of the doorway. The centre of the tee on the downstream should be 1" lower than the upstream side.
