BOILER REPLACEMENT

YOU MUST SIZE THE NEW BOILER BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF SQUARE FEET OF RADIATION THAT THE BOILER WILL BE SUPPLING. THIS IS A MINIUM OR THE BOILER CAN'T FILL THE SYSTEM WITH STEAM. BIG TIME NO WORKY. IF YOU PLANNING TO EXPAND THE SIZE OF THE HOUSE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. ALSO, MAKE SURE THE STEAM PIPES ARE INSULATED.

BOILER REPLACEMENT
I am looking to replace my boiler due to age. My existing boiler is an HB Smith, 5 section steam boiler with a rating of 485 sq ft steam. I feel my boiler is oversized and am considering a Utica 3 section with a rating of 363 sg ft steam. My house is an older cape about 1500 sg ft. I have 7 radiators each measuring about 20"h x 28"l x 4"d. Each section is 2"w. Manufacturer unknown. The radiators are flat on the front and recessed in the wall. According to Burnham specs (radiant radiators)each radiator is rated for 32 sq ft steam. 7 x 32 = 224 add 1.5 correction factor = 336
I have a 1 pipe steam system. In the future i may add another radiator to the 2nd floor bedroom ( none existing)
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Am I on the right track?
Thank-you Steven Marks0 -
