Christy Farver, a beautiful young woman, has breast cancer. She has five more chemo treatments to go, and then radiation. She's in great spirits and fighting hard.
Christy's sister, Cindy, is in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which will take place in Washington D.C. on May 1 & 2. Over the two days, thousands of people will walk at least a marathon distance (26.2 miles) and raise money for cancer research. There are an estimated one-million women who have breast cancer, but do not yet know. Christy caught it in time. She's very young.
Marianne and I are supporting Cindy in her walk, and through her, we're supporting Christy and our good friend Dan Foley. I hope some of you Wallies will rally around Dan as well. If you'd like to help, here's how:
Go to Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and click on Support a Walker/Crew Member. Once there, click Washington D.C. and then type Cynthia Rea in the search box. Scroll down and click on Cynthia's name. Make your tax-deductable donation from there.
Let's rally and help Dan and Christy get through this. I think what Cindy is doing is terrific. Let's help them exceed their goal of $2,000.
There, but for the grace of God, go we.

I love a good challenge!
Who wants to help out Dan Foley and Christy?

Wetstock Wallies!
You know we always have a 50/50 raffle at Wetstock to raise money for charity. At Wetstock IV, I'd like to do the 50/50 for Christy. Half the money will go to the raffle winner, and the other half will go to Cindy's walk to help Christy and the other women who are bravely fighting breast cancer.
Would any manufacturer like to step up and offer something for a silent auction, which we can also run during the day at Wetstock? That worked really well at Wetstock I, and since Marianne and I will be driving to Baltimore, we'll be able to do it there as well. If you're willing, that is.
Thanks so much for caring about others.
This can happen to anyone. Let's help. Thanks.Retired and loving it.0 -

Thank you
Thank you everyone for your support. I got home late last night after a long day of work and an ACCA meeting in the evening. Christy was overwhelmed by the show of support here on the Wall and through the donations in her name to cancer research. Christy and I are very appreciative. -DF

Cindy's thermometer
is now up to $2,725.00.
We're going to have to raise that goal again!
Cindy's Walk for Christy
Wallies, do you think we can get her over $3,000.00 by the end of today?
Email your friends and let them know what we're doing.
And if you run into any manufacturers today, please ask them if they'll help us out with a donation to the Wetstock silent auction.
Thanks.

Sorry for the delay, but yesterdays activities kept me away from the computer.
I added to Cindy's pledge in support of Christy, who by the way is a delightful person.
DF & DH thanks for bringing the support for Cindy's efforts to my attention.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!
Q. What is a Wethead?
A. A very generous person who comes through for a friend in need!
Seriously, thank you all so much for supporting my fundraising in support of breast cancer research. I am overwhelmed by the kind messages and donations. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so excited to do the "marathon walk" on May 1-2 in Washington, DC. I will remember your group's generous support every step of the way!

We're at
$3,930, with a new goal of $5,000. Wetstock will put the number way over that, but wouldn't it be nice to have a new, and higher, goal by then.
And doesn't it feel good to be working toward something this important.
We all have women in our lives. Thanks for caring about them.Retired and loving it.0 -
