The old guard passes

One of the two brothers we bought F. W. Behler, Inc. from passed away suddenly last night. Man, if you gotta go......

I've worked for many men over the course of my assorted jobs, but Herb stood out as one of the best. Quick with a smile and a pat on the back, he was also quick to tell a joke - sometimes a bit off color, but never when a member of the opposite sex was present. A gentleman in every sense of the word.

Flew B-17's in WWII. Missions there toughened him for dealing with customers in a service business, or so he often said.

If we can pull it off, we'll line up the fleet for his funeral procession. He'd have liked that as a send off. I'm gonna miss the way he lit up the office whenever he visited. We'd sit & he'd tell plumbing stories & we'd laugh. Life is one short sweet ride - make the most of it and bring some sunshine into other's lives. If you've got someone like Herb in your life, let them know how much you appreciate their influence.

    The Old Guard Passes....

and passes the torch to the rest of us to be 'The Mentors' of not just the trade but life in general. I've learned so much from so many, the least I can do is pass it on to the young people I meet on the job and elsewhere. Good people are just that...GOOD PEOPLE!! When they pass away we can take solace in the knowledge that some their counsel will pass along to future generations through us, the students become teachers.

A line of service trucks is something I've never seen in a funeral procession and I know it would be an awesome, newsworthy sight.

    Thoughts and prayers, Tom Goebig

    Your friend and mentor

was a member of that rapidly decreasing group of Americans known now as the "Greatess Generation". You were fortuanate to have known such a man and the rest of us are
priveledged that such people existed in one of our times of great need.

I have known several such men in my life time and their passing gives one pause.

I believe the fleet idea is ample tribute. It states with certainty what those he knew thought of him.
