this winter, when I've scheduled a non-emergency change-out, the temp drops to at least -15F !? Stretches us just a bit thin. Can't change the schedule w/o it being 2 weeks or more for reschedule either.

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH !!!!

    Same here

We were scheduled to shut down a heating system in a state building today (unoccupied because of their holiday) and the thermometer says -18.7* right now. This job will take a good 12-14 hours so were not going to do it. They'll have to put up with it the way it is for now.

Why do we have to shut down the heating system. Because the )@%(@))%*$### low bid outfit that did the install 6 years ago put 2 shut offs by the boiler for a 12,000 sq ft building. Not another one in the whole place. AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

    State Low bid BS

I work at a NYS facility as an HVAC tech. I worked with the engineers on a change-out design on the pneumatic valves on the reheats in a building to be replaced by Belimos and a DDC control system. Specs called for unions on all the 3-way valves. Unions spec'd were all 3/4" w/male pipe thread on one end for the valve and sweat on the other. Office of General Services (OGS) allowed the contractor to eliminate all of the unions and hard solder the valves in. OGS would not make the contractor repipe the valves, they felt that it would upset him. The contractor is laughing his **** off over the whole thing plus saving a pile of money by slipping it to the state again.
