HTP products rock!

Jamie_6
Jamie_6 Member Posts: 710
The last couple of days have been long ones but we are finally done. Here we replaced 6 Hydropulses installed in the early 80's and cleaned up the boiler room just a little. These are the first Pinnacels we have ever installed and I must say HTP makes a really nice product. I really enjoyed installing these little bad boyz.

    Looks

like you cleaned it up more than just a little! Nice job, nice and neat! Customer will be much happier without those darn Hydropulses.

I am not a plumber. What technique is that to join the copper? Does it require special tools?

    Pro-press

It looks like he used a tool called a pro-press. It is a way to join copper pipes and fittings. The pipe is normal off the shelf copper. The fittings are designed to be used with the tool. The cost of fittings is higher, but the labor savings well offsets it.

    nice job. very professional.
who do you get your propress fittings from? how long have you been using the propress fittings? any problems using propress? i also see you used grundfos circulators with isolator flange/ball valve.
do you use the super brute ups15-58fc three speed circulator with built in check valve?
i am in sales for EPSCO P&H wholesaler in allentown pa. and i sell the propress, grundfos and isolators.
how long have you been using the peerlees boiler.
we sell burnham boilers and they do not sell this type of boiler.
i take it you were not the low bidder on this job and the way your job looked when done the owner got a great system for the money.
    nice work
    thanks bob eck

I'd say cleaned up more than a little. Awesome work! Big changeout in the dead of winter, you must be ready for a vacation.

The Pinnacle isn't available with HTP vision control and Munchkins aren't available in Chi-town yet so I've only used it for snow melt so far. I agree...mighty nice HTP. Is the Tekmar just for boiler staging with the Pinnacle temp set high for DHW and hi temp radiation. It'll modulate on demand but you won't condense much with those high temps. Looks like sidewall was your only flue option anyway.

And the work is soooo sweeeeeet!!!!!

Here's my Pinnacle in a closet snowmelt install. Sorry the pics are scanned 35mm.

Thanks for the remarks Tom! We used the Tekmar for staging and for Reset. We just had to trick that little bugger. Here is what we did.

    Tom,

You are not kidding this was a big change out. We where trying to push it off till the spring but the old Hydropulses kept breaking and we didn't want the owner to keep spending cash to fix them.

The Tekmar control is being used for staging and reset we just had to fool it a little. It came out to be a really nice system and the building owner is quite pleased. We acctually forgot to turn one of them on and we satisfied the building and indirects. (according to the heat load that should have not been so)

Thanks for the kind words and that Pinnacle of yours looks awesome. I really like how it is hung up high in that room. That's great you got to do some snow melt too. I'm bidding my first one now, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Jamie

    Bob,

This is actually the first Propress job I have had. I just purchased the tool about 2 weeks ago. It is a huge time saver & by far out ways the extra cost of the fittings. Funny to say that w/ the whole job the only thing to leak was a union and one of the isolator flanges. Both fixed today. We basically use all Grudfos pumps and including the ones mentioned above. And Peerless is a fairly new line for us (Plus Roger and his crew @ Quality are a big help), we just started using them this year. Everyone around here sells Burnham, Crown, & Buderus. We like to be a little different.

By the way I get my fittings from Betz!

    Pinnacle

Yeah, I had the forethought to set the unit forward on the platform and cut a hole in the deck to service the rear of the equipment. It's like poking into an attic standing on the ground back there. If your owner reads that current Munchkin efficiency post he'll even be happier. He's already gotta love that he can at least see the walls in his equipment room!! Again, swweeeeet!!

    Nice work!

The original system reminded me of a hydronic train wreck. WHEW...

    Keep up the good work.

    Is that the 265 control????

And did you set it up to take over the modulation of the boilers as well as the staging????
Are you running it sequential or parallel????
Did you set it up for hot water priority???

Nice looking install... wish I had a better look at how you piped it.

    Like a fish to water.

I can say that Jim, Jamie and Nick took to the ProPress fittings like a fish to water. It was unbeilable how much piping was accomplished in such a short period of time. I am their contact at Betz, and after being a bit skeptical they jumped in and it looks like PropPress on every job they can.
If you are looking at the ProPress system, bite the bullet and go with the cordless tool. I've seen it in action and it makes a world of difference.
