Electronics thermostat losing power during heat cycle

I have an electronic thermostat (Enerstat) on a Lennox G26 (I think) furnace.

The system has been working fine for years, but recently the thermostat starting blanking out near the end of the heating cycle. It comes back on its own after a few seconds. It otherwise works fine and calls for heat when it should. Can anyone suggest anything? TIA

    Is there a backup battery

in the thermostat? It may need to be replaced. It's also possible that the transformer in the furnace is showing its age, especially if it's marginally sized for everything it has to run.

    Check...

your filter. The furnace may be cutting out on high limit dropping out the 24v to the thermostat. Typical causes: dirty filter, dirty blower wheel, dirty coils, blocked vents or returns, oversized furnace. Good luck! -DF

Dan, your were absolutely correct. The filter (although changed this past summer) was so plugged that it was bowing in the direction of the airflow. This was probably compounded by the fact the filter was in backwards.

The problem ws corrected immediately by a fresh filter.

    Thank-you!

People always ask how often filters need changed.

Correct answer is- as often as they need to be. We have a few customers (very few) who can amazingly get by all year and the filter looks almost as clean during Fall Lightup Service as it did the year prior. While the next home has to change them monthly. Pets, house keeping, age of dwelling, dry/dusty environment, tightness of home, etc. are all factors. Inspect your filters occasionally and you can then determine the proper frequency of cleanings or changes for your home. Greg
