Email Virus - hydronicsmike

Howdy guys!!

I've been getting a lot of viruses through my email lately. Most of them will say something about a failed mail delivery. Do not open any of the attachments that appear to carry the original message sent by you. Even when the email address you see as the intended recipient appears to be one of the fine gentlemen you see frequent The Wall. Of course, unless you know that you actually tried to send this person something. Even then, it has paid many times for me to scan ANY attachment I receive. No matter how well I know somebody.

Just some heads up. I'd hate to see anybody lose a PC because of some freak trying to make life difficult to others.

    Worm emails itself to datamined email addresses. The recipient will receive an email with various headings, including:

    An attachment (the worm) is included using the file extension .exe, .pif, .zip, and .scr. Filenames include body, document, file, message, test, and text.

    Upon execution, it will drop taskmon.exe and shimgapi.dll in the %system% folder, and set taskmon.exe to autostart in the HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun subkey.

    If you receive this email, do not open it. Immediately delete the email.[/quote]

    My Doom...............

    Hi Mike!

    The My Doom virus has been plugging up my e-mails for a couple of weeks now. Many of my friends have the same problem. I wish more people would use Anti Virus software. I'm getting sick of it.

    all is well, the 6 kids and wife stay nice and warm. We have spring weather right now, day high around 5+ celcius, sure a change from a few weeks ago -40 C. Wood boiler is happely boiling away and eating loooots of wood. Some minor problems but will get them worked out too.
    How is life down south?
