Newfers rule!

If anybody missed the dog show on tv, a 150 pound big black bear of a Newfoundland from Flemington, NJ won! It always amazes me how many cool dogs there are, it's a shame they can't all win, especially some of the rare ones like Bernese Mountain Dogs, or Gordon Setters. The German Shorthair pointer, Golden & Labrador retrievers...I don't know how those judges can make a decision. That show is a great diversion from the daily grind!

Had one when I was a kid

They are a great dog. Big heart. My little brother at age five used to ride him around the yard like a horse. They are a strong animal. He would kill the coyotes that would come into the yard and try to grab a chicken. But considered the cat his best bud. Its sometimes good to remember the times we spent as kids. To bad life is no longer that worry free, Where every nook and cranny was a new adventure.

Ours like to be under the

kitchen table in case food items accidentally (yeah right) got dropped under the table. The huge beast made a great foot warmer or foot rest depending on the season. My Graddad in Nefoundland had newfers, enormous work dogs that easily dragged sleds in the winter so you could do the rabbit snare run.
My son's current Saint Bernard has paws bigger than your hand. This picture is the kid when he was small with our Saint.

    English Springer Spaniel

We have one called Oliver, what a character. He loves everyone and greets everyone that passes the house. I swear he thinks he is human. I'm amazed at the attention and affection he has for everyone. If only everyone was like him, the world would be a better place. Jon
