Boiler Cleaner Information

Dear Guys and Gals,
Greetings all. Hope everything is well with you and yours.
Recently, I had posted on The Wall making inquiries as to whether it is recommended, or not recommended, to add a cleaner to the boiler. I appreciate all the advice I received. I have decided I would never do so, unless it became an absolute necessity and then only if a licensed plumber did so for me.
I am posting this information in hopes that I may be helpful in return. I spoke with a representative from the Weil McLain boiler company and this is what I was advised. Never use a cleaner that contains any petroleum products. Most cleaners on the market today do not. If a boiler cleaner is added to the boiler one risks the chance of loosening materials in your heating system that has built up over the years. It is only recommended as a last resort and should be administered by a licensed plumber who knows how to skim out the boiler.
Once again, thank you for your help. Take care and best regards,
Your steam buddy,
