Why are vents \"bad\" in two-pipe systems?

Hi, I read elsewhere on this site that thermostatically venting a radiator with a steam trap is not done. Yet, they heat up very fast when a vent is used. So why are radiator vents not considered?
Also, seems to me that a second vent, at the bottom opposite the trap, would make a radiator heat even faster, now wouldn't this make it more efficient?

Because
they mask bad steam traps.Retired and loving it.0 -
On that type of system
the air is supposed to go into the dry (above the waterline) return, and out thru a central vent in the basement. If you put a vent on a radiator in this type of system, air will come toward it from both the steam and return sides.
