It has been as simple as not changing the bats in the T-Stat that will result in a frozen house. On the other hand I get the other extreme where it is the Heating contracters fault makes all of us look stupid.Take the time to inform the home owner, let them ask questions! A radiant heat job - in a garage of a car collector, pex in concrete 2nd floor office with base board. I get asked why this dosen't work because i fix boilers I'm not a plumber, heat work only. Now i have to go in and tell the owner that his $10,000.00 heating system has major problems. If you can't do the job don't. so you just got your master plumbers liscense, great! You don't know everything yet. I don;t and hope I never will, how boring will that be. I only do heat work because there is more than enough that falls under that catagorie and hooking up a hot tub is kick in shins. That radiant job, no mixing valves-180 going to the concrete,no anti-freeze,no room sensor just t-stat,3/4 pipe directly behind for 2nd floor feed. Hows that for starters. I also had the contractor who installed a new 275 oil tank with the old pipes and 2 whistles 1 on vent 1 on fill! I didn't find this slight problem till one of my trucks hooked up to the fill. Power vents on oil fired equiptment installed by HVAC= Thank you that will be $800.00.At least if a steam system has a problem I get the call.It has got to a point where I see a shiney new service truck in a driveway, I'll get a call in three days, fine that is what I do. A far cry from the days of the oil burner guy. silly incompetance is why i don't touch gas.My pricing is that way for a reason, because i don't want to go back. Now when these type calls come in I just think how much worse they could be if I wasn't so good looking. very useful phrase that applies to all heating wants and needs. Yes it has been tested in the field. Thanks for letting me vent -Rob
