My first and last radiant install
Joe_28
Member Posts: 15
I retired after 31 years in the industrial piping field (13 years as pipefitter/weldor & 18 years as a project manager). My daughter and son-in-law decided to build a steel-frame house and office for her graphic design studio with radiant heat so I had to dust off my tools.
After lurking on "The Wall" for a couple of years, we decided to go with a Munchkin with Vision I. The system has been online for 2 weeks and continues to amaze me.
I thought a stainless boiler deserved stainless headers. You can take a look at the photos below.
I'll finish this job up and go back to farming and playing with airplanes!

It's a shame to insulate it.0 -
Wow ....
Great job.
I like the lights below the zones. What you got there?

You are a true craftsman Joe. Beautiful work. It must be hard to put that kind of skill to rest. Good luck in your retirement. bob0 -
Holy S----T
That is on smoking job. You are an artist! What do you have above the zone circulators? What type of controls are they and what do they do.
Man that is one nice job. Just curious how long did it take you?
Hats off!

I sure

I also love the idea of the "hot box" below your pumps, sure hides all the messy wiring!
Looks great Joe, too bad your retiring!0 -

A ten from the judge in New England.
Joe, please go back to farming, because we can't stand up to that type of competition.
That is perfect work and deserves to be in the HTP installation book. The welder in you shows in your work.
Your daughter is a lucky girl. She's got a good dad.

I can't believe
you could sit back and not use your talent. I think anyone would love to have you work for or with them even part time or as a consultant. You obviously have "it". WW

SWEET
As they say Joe every job is a self portrait of the man who did. Your job says head and shoulders above the rest.
Nice job Joe.0 -
Munchkin install
WOW!!! You should charge $$ for people to see this work. It is a work of art. Im a HO. JIm0 -
Work like that is an inspiration...
and a challenge. If the bar gets any higher, it will get out of the solar system, if not the galaxy! If you farm like you pipe, you'd better get a supermarket chain to buy all your produce, and if you fly like you pipe, you must be driving a P51 Mustang or a Corsair. What a job! Congratulations!0 -
That is...
the absolute finest install I have ever seen...residential or commercial.
I think the bar that Heatboy, ME, HR, and others have already set pretty high just got raised :-)
I would also like to see the radiation end...although it may be a little bit of a letdown (with due respect).
Take Care, PJO0 -
I personally thought the
Titanium, Argon filled and Magna-fluxed electrical tray cover was a bit of overkill (:-o)
Any comments as to job pricing?
That is perhaps the finest install I ever saw. The photos are extremely good as well.

Joe - outstanding! How about a picture with a closer look at what's above the circulators... can't quite make out the details.
You could probably have a nice side business making those stainless steel headers to spec.0 -
Wonderfull work!!!!
You have a very lucky daughter, just hope she can appreciate what you did for her....can't charge enough $$$ for work like that!!!!!
You get 110% on that test.... with the extra 10% for creativity and neatness.0 -
Outstanding!
Excellent craftsmanship.
Are those relays for the lights similar to a Tekmar 003?
Regards,
PR0 -
Beauty!!
First class assembly...let us know what kind of performance (and longevity)you get from the Munchkin.

You sir.....are a artist0 -
That is as beautiful as...
the engine room of a nuclear submarine, and they cost hundreds of millions of dollars.0 -
an artisan
Joe,
There are bineheads, technicians, craftsmen and artisans. The skill, care and creativity that went into this shows that you are at the top of the artisan caregory.
I'm with the person that said you should sell tickets to people wanting to see this. Certainly deserves a calendar or magazine cover spread.
I hope you take some time during your retirement to find ways to pass son whe wealth of knowledge you possess.
wishing you all the best,
jerry

Beautiful
Joe, that is some beautiful work. Both Chuck and myself here at Heat Transfer have different pictures of it now as wallpaper on our computers. It is inspirational.

All
the adjectives have been used and are deserved.
How about volunteering to remove my "Warm" air system?0 -
One for the record books!
Very nice. Did you do the machine turning on the electrical tray?
I like the stands for the Munch and indirect. Stainless, no doubt.

POSITIVELY BEAUTIFUL!!! What a shame no one wants to pay for talent, workmanship and artistry. I think everone has to buy new ladders to see the (stainless) bar now!!
All the best in you retirement.
I can imagine what you milking parlour will look like!

A masterpiece
by The Master. A real contrast to the dingy, grimy holes so many boiler rooms become. Any more pictures, please?

Hall of Fame material...
I'm betting that it ends up at HTP's Hall of Fame. At least in John S's book of fantastic jobs...
If you get tired of retirement, give me a call...
