I have pneumonia! I've had Hep A and Meningitis previously, but this bad boy is kicking my butt.

Smack it down FAST, Dave!
Don't suffer needlessly for three days waiting for an ineffective antibiotic to work. That happened to me, and it kicked my **** like it's never been kicked. So weak I couldn't sit up. Coughing up blood, soaking the sheets at night with sweat. Chills. Fever. I came to a point where I just couldn't take it anymore. I was done. Finished. Nuthin left. I surrendered completely, started spontaneously saying prayers of thanks for my time on Earth, for the beauties of the Earth He's shown me, for the kindness of others, for having been made a human being, for being given the capacity to love and have feelings, and suddenly I had an out-of-body experience! -I'm not kidding- started like the Star Trek warp speed where the stars blur, you're going so fast? Hopefully you're not in that bad a shape. I had one of the resistant bugs. Augmentin didn't work, Rocephrin did.
The faster you kill it the better.
So... You gonna spit into a cup and get the bacteria checked out to see if it's Legionellae?
My thoughts are with you, my friend, I know it's no picnic. Sit up and cough (if the Doc says it's OK). Get well soon and relax and take it easy.0 -
I hope
you're not working.
Pulling for you, Dave.Retired and loving it.0 -

or equivalent. Take one at least two hours after each dose of your medicine. A few months back I went through several different types of antibiotics trying to end a particularly nasty sinusitis episode. The doc suggested acidophilus. It was completely successful at precluding the side effects you're having, which I'd suffered previously when taking the same antibiotics.
Get well soon.0 -
ah-ha!
You got the definition of irony thing regarding pneumonia and Legionella!
Yah, I too felt like I was sliding off the edge. Sleep depravation was driving me bonkers. Then at half-time during the super bowl, I couldn't stomach the rap music (didn't know MTV was the producer till later - but that explains one hell of a lot). So, I missed the boob thing with Janet. What the heck's up with those Jackson kids anyway!?! (Well, that was like a wet paint sign!) From the internet nipple pictures today, I have no doubt that was deliberate. Led to one hell of a debate with our 17-going-on-40 son last night(G). Suffice it to say I'm finally firmly ensconced on the old fart side of the fence and "don't get it".(G)
No out of body this time, but I went there once one night when a tractor-trailer broadsided me in my little Datsun 610 station wagon. The last thing I saw & heard was a huge headlight and the roar of that diesel engine. He was doing an estimated 70 MPH and ran a red light. Hit me about 6" behind the driver's door. Ever read the book "Into the Light"? I was there & back again. The impact blew all of the car's glass outwards, so none ended up inside and he spun me around in the air like a top. When the car landed, the spinning force ripped the tires right off of the rims. He went to jail - I went to the hospital. He tried to drive away, but my back bumper had gashed his radiator and he had to stop when his engine began a meltdown. He was being followed by a witness, so getting away wasn't really a good option in spite of it being around 1 AM. I was returning home from a particularly lousy blind date.
Some day I'll regale you with my story about how gaining a replacement car took me to the edge of Yellowstone Park and the misadventure we had coming home.
Here was but one bit out of that trip:
Mt. Rushmore loomed large on my list of to-dos. We slept in the parking lot until the park rangers kicked us out & moved on to a hotel parking lot from there. Lack of funds kept Burnell and me from worldly comforts! We had delivered a truck to a dealership in MT. and were returning in a Datsun 610 station wagon meant to replace the one I'd been in when a tractor-trailor had run a red light and run over me.
Anyway, there we were, 48 broken-down hours late for dinner at my Aunt & Uncle's and trying to find a bit of sleeping time. Ahhhhh, the wonders of being a yute as the judge would say in My Cousin Vinney - the movie.
The morning broke early for us as we were rousted by hotel security. No matter - it was off to Mt. Rushmore for us. Imagine our disappointment at finding the faces on the mountain obscured by fog. We waited for what seemed like an interminable time and finally decided to leave. Before leaving I called my parents to detail yet another failure in out mis-adventure of getting home.
Once in the car with engine running, a virtual miracle in itself given the 28 break-downs we experienced during the trip, I placed the red piece of junk into reverse and looked over my shoulder for clearance. It was at this moment I heard a tap on my window. A middle-aged woman was motioning for me to roll down my window. Oh great, I thought, yet another person to give me hell for some perceived indiscretion. Had I parked incorrectly? Rolling down the window, I was surprised to find her tone quite friendly.
"Excuse me", she said, "I couldn't help but overhear your phone conversation. The fog is lifting and if you come back to the observation platform, you'll see a spectacular view of the Presidents as the appear out of the lifting fog." We did & by God she was absolutely correct. The affect of seeing those faces magically appear out of that fog was spell-binding. Afterwards, I couldn't find her to extend my thanks & I've always wished I could have done so. That is one of those memories that is burned into my mind as if it were a photograph. I am forever in her debt!
