Is it proper to pipe hot or cold water to a forced air furnace humidifier? I've gotten mixed emotions about this when asking people in the work field. Whats the "best" way?..

Cold is the
way to go. Stay away from the hot.

I've heard Hot
I've always heard using hot water is better because it evaporates better. I've had hot water hooked to my AprilAir humidifier for over 10 years and never have had a problem with mine. I also love the fact that I turn on the hot water in the kitchen and it's right there with no waiting.
Why do you say not to use hot water?

I've used
hot water on Heat pump system humidifiers because of the abscence of hot air, however, the orifice always seems to clog up quicker because of the minerals in the water seem to have more static cling. I install a Hako water condidtioner device on the incoming water line and that helps the problem some. WW
