Leaking HB Smith

Had to replace leaking section of HB Smith boiler, only about 8 yrs young. Unfortunately the batteries died before we got the new one in. 14 sections, regasketed the entire boiler though because of course it was leaking in the middle. Sorry I dont know how to shrink it...new camera!Chris

the way it is piped led to the leak? Is there room for expansion off the top of the header? kpc

Expansion
We were not the original installers. It is for a municipality in NYS. I believe there is enough room for expansion on the system. My thoughts are that the boiler took on too much fresh water. We just won the contract for all plumbing and hvac Jan 1. We were told by the city engineers that there had been a previous leak that had gone undetected for quite a while before someone fixed it. The leak was not a crack it was the cast iron rotted away where the gasket sits. Chris0
