try P-Blaster or Kroil instead of WD-40, but an impact wrench should do it regardless.

how to remove anode without \"waltzing with Matilda\"
I swapted out the dip tube on my Bock hot water heater, as I wrote about on a prev. thread. A " piece of cake". I also tried to check on the anode . Every time I put any kind of pressure on the breaker bar and also tapping it with hammer after using wd-40 ,I had to worry about holding on to the unit. How do you guys do it so as your're not "dancing with Matilda" around the boiler room. Thanks0 -
Anode removal
I use an electric impact wrench to take them out, but reinstall by hand so it's not so tight the next time. Good luck.

removing anode
thanks for the info. I'll borrow/rent one of those. I guess that's the best bet as pressure doesn't have to be applied. I have "street water" and the boiler is only 5 yrs. old. so it may be ok as I don't get much sediment out of it. Thanks again0
