How many of you use bronze body pumps on your steam boiler hydronic takeoffs? B&G recommends it in a big way. Is this just a way to sell up? They also only recommend using the 100 series bronze body.

Hi John
My experience with this is that the Series 100 B&G or 110 Taco bronze pumps perform better and last much longer than the wet rotor pumps in steam applications. As far as I know, the passages are a bit more forgiving with the sediment that is usually present in steam systems as well as the pump impeller and housing holding up better to the high temperatures. I've been on countless jobs where wet rotor pumps have failed after a year or so and the bronze Series 100 or 110 cured it every time. Just my thoughts.
