Hook up your volt meter across the two tranformer terminals. If it no where near 24V then replace . She could have fried transformer. A fusable link is a nice option for a zonevalve set up.

    Trouble shooting zone valves

Guys,Need help trouble shooting a zone valve problem. I'll be honest I don't know as much about them as I should. My nice tried to replace her own power head (taco)She calls me after her attempt and explains she saw sparks from the wires. She claims she had it turned off ends up she had turned off the h20 heater. Any how I know how the wires are to be hooked up on the valves but what confuses me is the trans. I can only get 24 volts from the R terminal to a ground. If I go from the R term to the C term. I get nothing.
When I do go from R to ground I actually get 26 volts, which had check the neutral and the voltage coming that were fine.
Maybe someone could please tell me how to check the heads and the trans. with an ohms meter. Thanks Nick

    Troubleshooting zonevalves

    Good Afternoon
Thank you, for using Taco, zonevalves. Attached is a troubleshooting guide to help you diagnose the problem. Additionally, wiring the valve, and replacing the head is very easy. Taco, tries to make things simple, so you can do it yourself. The head is replaced by a 1/4 turn right. Wiring, is also easy. For your convenience I have attached a simplified wiring diagram. Please advise, if you require additional assistance.
