    boiler cycling

looking for some answers on why i can't heat my new room with my system. i have a burnum steam boiler . I heat my house with steam ,and the new extension with hot water baseboard. boiler doesn't stay on more then 35 to 40 seconds then shuts off on temp. On the coldest day it takes for ever to reach temp on thermostat. Boiler cycles on and off alot.not able to generate any good heat in the room

ret of the house is fine, is it because of the severe cold weather or is the boiler not able to handle the load. i turned the agustatup to 190 to see if it would help

May sound dumb but does it have a circulator pushing this water around the loop? Also maybe a purge station might be air bound? And is it pipe through a tankless coil, if so make sure its completely sumberged in H2o, and if its a side arm tankless bleed the air from top of it.

How are you heating the baseboard loop. Are you pulling the water directly from the boiler condisate water or did you use a heat exchanger to sepperate the two heating systems. The boiler may not have the water capacity for the loop and is unable to keep up and causing the boiler to short cycle. You might want to store the btu,s in a buffer storage tank between the two systems. This might help during the peak heating times and stop the boiler from short cyceling as much. The boiler will wear out before its time if it continualy tring to heat cold water up and this could cause to much condensation in the boiler also.

their ia a taco circulater in the loop, i am taking the water from the boiler. i also have a bypass line on the return to mix some cooler water with the hot. agustat is mounted on the feed side of the boiler . the bypass line has a ball valve that i have opened half way to let the cooler water in. i have no tank less coil or heat exchanger. the loop is taking the hot water from the bottom of the boiler. Also ifi cut back on the bypass valve to much ,when both zones are calling for heat, i get a noise by the circulater, almost like the water is flashing, really don't know what it is. any answer would greatly be appreciated, thanks,

    HW zone

There is a very specific way to pipe a hot water zone off a steam boiler...This is off memory...but close. In the supply you should have a flo-control valve and temp gauge. In the return you should have a flo-control and gauge. The air must be out of the zone. The problem is that you can set the aquastat at 190 but when you are making steam the water will get hotter. If it is piped properly it will work better. You could also have a problem with not enough baseboard in that area.
    Good Luck
Paul......I think B&G has a piping schematic to double check my memory.
