Radiant & Insulation!

I'm looking @ doing a quick Trak job for a friend and was curious about some extra insulation and what you guys think. He is making his existing garage a family room so he build up the concrete floor with 2x4's and insulated it with R11. Do you think it would even be worth the effort and $ to place one of the bubble wrap foams / insulations between the quick Trac & the wood sub floor?

I did a Wirsbo ADS load and it will work w/out the extra foam but a BTU saved is a BTU earned!

    Instead of R-11............

I may opt for extruded polystyrene between the joists. 4" of this equates to a R value of 20. Naturally, you would cover the existing slab with at least 4 mil plastic. Question. If there is 4" to play with, why not a second pour? It would seem to be a much more cost effective application, Jamie.

    Thanks for the reply HB!

I'm doing the job for a plumber friend and he has things set in his mind how he wants it done???? (he still dosen't believe in thermal shock or flue condensation) He is just one of those guys who is never wrong. So he asked me to do a favor for him and I am.

He already has the floor framed and r11 under it (the type which comes prewrapped in plastic.) Do you think I should still use the bubble wrap insulation or am I waisting my time?

By the way, how did the bride like the light you made her for Christmas?
