heat stays on without call for heat

I have hot water baseboard heat with two zones. The lower zone (same level as boiler) is working fine. The upper zone was working fine until yesterday. It no longer wants to shut off - it pays no attention to the thermostat and runs continuously. I tried disconnecting the thermostat and the heat continues to run. I cannot find the aquuastat on my boiler. The water temp on the boiler reads 180 even though this has been going on for 24 hours - hopefully that is a good thing. Any advice - I cannot get a pro out until tomorrow but would really love to either fix it myself or have a temp fix until the pro gets here.
THANKS!!!!

Sounds like a flochek is stuck open. not much you can do short of replacing it. When they stick open, water is allowed to freely pass through (just like an old gravity system) even when the circulator isn't pumping.

is it a circulatior or a zone valve?

I guess I can't tell you what to do next, too much liability for my fellow Wall people.

There isn't a shut off valve on that return pipe?

Is it a bad idea to turn the boiler power switch off intermittently until I get the flocheck replaced?

There is what I believe to be a shut off valve (water valve?)on the pipe coming off the zone connectors. Shoudl I shut that off rather than the power switch?

i wouldn't, to be honest, i would let it be until tomorrow, i know it is probably a bit unomfortable, but think about it, would u rather be too hot or too cold right now. If you shut it off and have poor insulation, u might run the risk of a freeze up.
