is it oil or gas fired? Are all the turbulators ("fins") in place? What is the draft in the chimney? In the firebox? What is your stack temperature?

Is there any way to increase the efficency of a old kewanee steam boiler for a 12 unit bldg. I see on new HWH boilers they have an auto damper that closes to retain heat, would this work.
I have the fins that go in the tubes they are old , is there a better design perhaps more restrictive that may get more heat out of the system.
I have insulated the boiler with a foot of fiberglass batts.
would a new burner help, and should i get an effeciency test done to see if its operating t proper perameters.
Ive been told I have a 65% efficent boiler

One would think you'd be chasing good money after bad. Not knowing how old it is, chances are it's way past it's prime, is probably too big for the load and will forever be a fuel guzzler. Invest in a new one and smile at the savings.
