about this business; never a dull moment, always something new.
This is something I can't figure out and neither can any of my suppliers; so I need a little help from the heating clan.
This is a radiant heating job with a Taco zone valve controller; this controller operates manifold actuators at a remote (about 20' away) manifold. On a call for heat, 24 volts gets to the actuators, but they don't open and the end switch doesn't close.
Some notes:
- The actuators get warm, but not as warm as a properly working actuator.
- There are 6 actuators on the manifold and they all act the same way.
- It's not a problem with the thermostats; I jumpered the wires.
- Actuators are 3 VA ea.; 6 of them adds up to 18 VA and the transformer is 40 VA. But just to make sure, I took 4 actuators off the grid and they acted the same.
- I spoke to my Taco and Rehau rep's. and they said there haven't been any problems with their products.
I plan to go back and try those actuators with different transformer; after that, I'll be stumped.
Any ideas?

Have you checked amperage?
i.e. ammeter in series with valve(s) when supplied with current?
A poor or loose connection will show proper voltage.0
