I need someone with snow melt experience, I have a customer
that wants a radiant system installed as a heat barrier to keep their commercial freezer from freezing the ground just out side the door of the freezer and causing the concrete to heave and crack, they are going through $7000.00
worth of tires a month on their fork lifts.

    Thanks for any help.

    Easy enough...

6" EXP foam on th outter walls of the cooler foundation to isolate the cold. 5/8" tubing 12" OC hooked up to the refrigerant cycle to send rejected heat into the slab. Limit the sub slab temperature to 40 degrees, and VIOLA, no more frost balls.

I've done 15,000 square feet freezer warehouse floors this way. Works like a champ and doesn;t cost ANYTHING to heat it. Use antifreeze in the circuits.

Contact Wirrsbo. They will engineer a nice system for you.

Ok now what they want to do is remove the concrete from 5' into the freezer through the door to about 15' outside the freezer and about 25' wide, is there a heatloss program that will tell me BTU requirement?
It's not a lot of mass and I don't know if I can put enough heat into it to keep it from freezing at -40.
This is their only door into this freezer so they can't have it torn up for more than a couple of days,
which limits the amount of concrete that can be removed.

    Thanks for your fast reply.

    very important!!!

dont leave the water supply turned on to the outside loop, because if you spring a leak, the freash water will wash out all your anti-freeze and then you will have a zillion leakes
