Boiler refractory

in Burnhams oil fired boilers has been a challenge to me, mostly to keep them intact while in inventory on the truck!
However, I also build glass melting furnaces ( yeah, sand soda and lime) and we get that stuff up to 2600 deg. and never have a problem with the targets falling in, or faces collapsing so when my darling sweethearts V 73 did that to her, I got out a roll of 2700 deg ceramic fiber and a five gallon pail of rigidizer, and I made a front back and bottom that the boys in Lancaster would wet themselves over!
There are pitfalls. The stuff is not cheap, care must be used(the dust is bad for you) and if the rigidizer freezes, you can throw it away(sound familiar?) Anyway, Because I buy it bulk( a roll) there is no problem with it getting busted up before we use it, and because I can make it fit good ( no leaks ) I have my combo eff. up to 84.6 %. Not so bad for an off the shelf USA product. Most comm. refractory
wharehouses have something similar, it's sold und a half dozen or so names, but, if you've gotten tierd of fighting those targets into place, here's you soloution! c-rex
