combi-core

What is the maximum reccomended heating loop tempurature on a bradford white combi-core. I have a small baseboard job and thought about using the combi-core. The system is desighned for 180 degree water.

    Not a great match

Most i could ever get on the tank aquastat was 160. Then you have a drop to the HX. I'd say at the very most 150 on the HX coil. They have a huge pressure drop through the coil, it 5/8 tube, also.

I've found their ouput BTU to be somewhat optimistic :) Do yourself a favor and get a boiler designed for those temperatures. Add an indirect or seperate tank for DHW.

I haven't had a very good track record with the CombiCors I have installed. Most leaked within 10 years. Too bad, great idea, poor choice of HX material. I feel.

    Ditto

There's a reason that we are prohibited from using a water heater of any kind for space heating purposes by code here in Michigan. Most of them lack many of the safety features that are built into a boiler. Most of them are less efficient and as Hot Rod said, are marginal and over-rated in the btu department. They are just not constructed for that type of demand. You would think, "This make hot water and so does that, so what's the difference?" In my experience, it doesn't work that way. Stick with a product that was designed to do the job required of it.

It's the same thing as using a pickup to pull a semi trailer. Sure, it'll do it for a while, but long term it won't be a good experience.

There's never time or money to do it right but there's always time and money to do it over. Save yourself a long term headache and use the proper equipment for the task at hand.
