Transfer plates and running PEX

Rather than drilling holes through all of my floor joists, is it acceptable to snap pex into extruded transfer plates and then run the leaders and returns along the support header? The support header will be boxed in eventually so all of the "transfer loops" from one joist to another will be hidden in this boxed area!!! Would there be any noise issues or longterm rub issues with the pex routed in that fashion?

I did my first house that way and it worked fine. I will probable do my other house that way also, though I may insulate the runs to help keep the heat in the bays.
Glad you asked since I want to know what other think also.

It will
work fine, and yes insulate those loops.
I've done it too, I think it looks crummy and it does burn up some extra pex, figure at least 2 feet for every drop down around a joist. Also even with insulation that heat will tend to go to the space below. Boxing it in is a wise idea.
The flip side is a lot of drilling and threading of pex! Not the best place to be drilling a joist near, or on, it's bearing.
