Here’s your chance to help the industry, learn something & have fun at the same time! On January 10, Dan Holohan will trade his keyboard for a pipe wrench and install several working boilers at the training facility being sponsored by the Oil Heat Institute of Long Island at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, NY. Like Santa, Dan can’t do it all by himself. We’re hoping to recruit some senior Elfs who’ll oversee the installation of individual units and some helper elfs to assist them.

Coffee, lunch & a photo opportunity with Dan await all who volunteer their services.

If you’d like to volunteer, please reply and include your telephone number.

Oh, this is starting to sound like fun. How many guys over 50 does it take to lift a pipe wrench?
  • Just to see

Dan sweating pipes is worth the trip . Count me in . Maybe I can coax Kenny and a few other Meenan boys to lend a hand .

But please , give me something I can work on Standing Up .

Got a great big room for you to work in, Ron!

Relatively speaking, that is. We'll have a great day, and do some good, too. Thanks.

Guys over 50 (even with hair) prefer aluminum pipe wrenches

    By the way

that classroom is going to be the center of a degree program for HVAC technical students during the day. The oilheat folks get to use it at night and on the weekends. It's a good sign for the future.

  • I brought this idea up

in an email to John - what about installing part of that steam header in glass , like the Weil Mclain travelling boiler ? Would anyone know where to look for a glass header ? There is no better way to show students exactly what happens in a steamer . Just an idea .
