one pipe steam radiators

Can be done if the radiators are the hot water type, connected at the top as well as the bottom. Can be risky though, old steam rads tend to leak after a while. Test them well.
Steam type rads that are joined only at the bottom won't work well as the water just shoots right through them and the efficiency is minimal.

    1-pipe steam radiator

A homeowner wants us to convert a one pipe steam system to water and use the existing radiators. Is this do-able? She was told by the other guy he just removes the plugon the other end and plugs the vent hole. I thought the passage ways were different inside? Help!

    I have found it's much more cost-effective

to fix an old steam system rather than replace or convert it. What kind of problems, if any, are they having with the present system?
