ports on taco valved fanges
rod robbins
Member Posts: 50
I have 1 inch taco valved flanges and noticed the ports were smaller than a 3/4 hole.I am concerned that this will restrict the flow of water.Am i wrong to make this assumpion?Have any of you guys worked with these flanges?I would think one would not want to restrict the pipe in any way.My supplyer say he sells a lot of them and no one has brought up the port issue.Any advice would be helpfull. Thanks Rod

taco flanges
Rod, I have literally hundreds of these flanges out there and have had absolutely no trouble with flow on any job. The head loss through such a short section of piping won't effect the flow significantly. I seriously doubt that you'll run into a problem using them. I'm also sure that someone will debate the issue, but for most residential applications, you should be OK.

The small restriction offered by that short length is 99 times out of 100, no consequence at all. If you're in the market for new flanges, check out B&G's. Full port and you don't have to fight with the second gasket. I love 'em!0
