steam main question

I have a new install coming up. My question is the existing mains are tee'd together where the boiler feeds them. The tee is "not" bullheaded, it's turned on end. It's a 3"x 3" x 2" tee and the mains it connects are 2", and 3" and is feed through the bottom with 3". Is there a disadvantage to leaving this as is, or should I separate it? thanks in advance,,, Steve

That should work OK
Personally I prefer a separate header takeoff for each main, but the setup you describe should be fine.

advantages
what are the advantages to separating them? Is it steam velocity, or friction loss through the tee? thanks again!!!0 -
velocity
by slowing it down AT the header, more water would be left behind.
