Excessive pilot light
After I had my thermocouple changed (the pilot light wouldn't stay lit), the pilot light is all yellow and has a really high flame. Pipes around the boiler (Utica gas boiler - steam heat) are very hot to the touch even when boiler is not in use. I checked and the pilot light is now using 100 cubit ft (gas meter) every 5 hrs (with boiler not in use at all). Previously the pilot light was blue and small. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!0 -
gas
you should consider calling an experienced gas tech to check and adjust gas burner, valve , controls and system. probably nothing much but not a job for some one not familiar with GAS.0 -
Sounds like
whoever changed the thermocouple either used a metal reamer and enlarged the pilot orifice, or left the orifice out all together.
If not that they may have screwed down on the pilot adjustment screw and increased the flow beyond what it should be.
I would suggest getting the person back who changed the thermocouple and let them fix it.0 -
What was wrong with the
gas valve?0
